Senior-Focused Computer Workshops

Free Technology Classes for Seniors
Are you interested in learning how to use a computer, send emails, stay safe online, or connect with friends and family through video chat? Join us for a friendly and easy-to-follow series of free workshops designed just for seniors.

June 11, 2025 – Getting Started with Computers This introductory session is perfect for beginners. You’ll learn about basic computer parts like the monitor, keyboard, mouse, and USB ports. We’ll show you how to open and close files and programs, browse the internet, send and receive emails, print documents, and save files using cloud storage. We’ll also give you a gentle introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it may show up in your daily life.

June 18, 2025 – Spot the Scam: Staying Safe Online In this important class, we’ll talk about how to recognize and avoid scams that come through email, text messages, phone calls, or online ads. You’ll learn how to spot red flags, protect your personal information, and what to do if you think you’ve encountered a scam.

June 25, 2025 – Keep Your Info Safe: Online Security Tips This session is all about staying safe online. We’ll explain what computer viruses are and how antivirus software works. You’ll learn how to create and remember strong passwords, set up two-factor authentication for extra protection, use online payment apps securely, and adjust your browser settings to protect your privacy. We’ll also introduce the concept of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).

July 2, 2025 – Stay Connected Online Learn how to connect with friends, family, and even new communities through video chat and messaging platforms. We’ll walk you through how to use Zoom, Microsoft Teams, FaceTime, Google Meet, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp so you can stay in touch, no matter where your loved ones are.

May 29th, 2025 – Access to Capital & Getting Loan Ready – Looking to fund your business but unsure where to start? Learn how to assess your financial readiness, strengthen your loan applications, and position yourself as a credible, fundable business.

June 5th, 2025 – Money In, Money Out: How to Plan and Track Your Business Cash – Is your business making money, but you’re still unsure where your cash is going each month? Learn how to plan and track your business’s cash flow to avoid surprises and stay in control of your finances. 

June 12th, 2025 – Finding Your Breakeven Point: How Much You Need to Sell to Make a Profit – Not sure how much you need to sell just to cover your expenses? We’ll break down how to figure out your breakeven — the point the sales number you need to hit before your business starts turning a profit.

June 26th, 2025 – Understanding Funding: What’s the Best Way to Fund Your Business? Looking for money to grow your business, but not sure where to start—or what’s right for you? In this session, we’ll walk you through the most common types of business funding in plain language. From small business loans to investors, grants, and crowdfunding, you’ll learn the pros and cons of each option and how to figure out what fits your needs.

May 17th – June 21st, 2025 – Build Your Online Business (Hands-On) – Ready to launch your business online? This 5-week, in-person course is built for aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners who want to show up online, get found by customers, and start making sales—without wasting time or money.

May 31st, 2025 – Introduction to the MWBE Certification – Learn what MWBE certification is, the certification application process, who is eligible, tools required for procurement, and how it can grow business.

May 31st – June 7th, 2025 – Turn Your Strengths Into Success – Learn how to uncover your unique “superpower”— the innate strength, talent, or perspective that sets you apart. Through guided exercises, group discussions, and hands-on activities, you will explore how to channel that superpower into a career path, side hustle, or personal brand that generates income and impact.

June 7th, 2025 – Learn the MWBE Certification Application Process – Walk through the New York State Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise certification application process with an overview of which supporting documents will be needed to complete your new or re-certifying MWBE application.

June 14th, 2025 – Start the MWBE Certification Application (Hands-on) – In this hands-on workshop, create a vendor profile and open a new MWBE certification application on the New York State Contract system.

June 21st, 2025 – Networking & Securing Procurement Opportunities – MWBE certified? What’s next? Learn the tools used to locate procurement opportunities and network for procurement.
