High School Equivalency (HSE) Preparation and
General Educational Development (GED)

Earn a high school equivalency credential to advance you academically and at your workplace!

Suffolk County Community College Offers the HSE/GED preparation program for those seeking to earn a high school equivalency credential.

Preparatory classes are available to students who are 17 years of age and older. Courses enable students to prepare for the GED, earn a high school equivalency diploma, improve educational skill levels and increase employment opportunities. The instruction and classes are specially designed and customized for the student’s skill level. Students work at their own pace with instruction in an individual or small group setting. Three-hour classes, which meet twice a week, offer instruction in subjects that include; social studies, reading, English, math, and science.

HSE/GED Application Process

New York State Education’s High School Equivalency Exam for 2022 will be the GEDTS. This change goes into effect on January 1, 2022. You can find the latest updates about the exam changes under announcements at: http://www.acces.nysed.gov/hse/high-school-equivalency-hse.

Suffolk County Community College can no longer register students for the HSE exam or accept HSE applications for 2022 exam dates. We will continue to be a test center, but the registration process will go through www.ged.com. Please make yourself familiar with the GEDTS website.
