Medical Terminology/A&P

This course provides students with comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology. The principal method of building a medical vocabulary is to identify prefixes, suffixes, and root words, as well as common abbreviations, layman?s terms, and symbols. The structure and function of major body systems, including organ systems, will be introduced. The course will also provide students with knowledge of fundamental concepts of disease processes, including chronic health conditions, by identifying etiology, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis, as documented by clinicians in the electronic health record. Basic pharmacology and the most used drugs for common diseases will be discussed, as well as the nutrition and dietary needs related to diseases and conditions.
