Medical Interpreter Training

This program prepares
students for careers as professional interpreters, including certain roles in
the healthcare field.  Students will learn medical terminology, how to
interpret in English and Spanish, and the ethics and standards required in clinical
settings. Students who complete this 40-hour program and earn a passing exam
grade of 75% or higher will receive a Certificate of Completion, which is
required to sit for the National Certification for Medical Interpreting Exam.
Students must be at least 18 years of age. Additional requirements include
fluency in English and Spanish and a high school diploma or the equivalent.
Required textbooks include Medical Terminology for Interpreters (4th
ed.): A Handbook (ISBN 978-0-9966517-7-6), The Community Interpreter:
An International Workbook (ISBN 978-0-9966517-0-7), and The
Medical Interpreter: A Foundation Textbook for Medical Interpreting (ISBN
978-0-9966517-3-8). This course meets for 40 hours over either 10 or 20
sessions.  

  Online course will not meet on 6/6, 6/20, 7/4, and 7/11. Ammerman course
will not meet on 5/25 and 5/27.
