Description
This course introduces students to the many administrative aspects of the medical office. Operational, clinical, financial, legal, and technical processes will be presented along with the coordination of care, including roles and responsibilities of the medical assistant. Communication and customer service will be emphasized, as well as equity, diversity, and inclusion as it relates to the provision of care. The application of diagnostic and procedural coding to billing will be discussed and students will be introduced to eClinics, an electronic health record practice management software system that will take them through scheduling, clinical visits, documentation, insurance, and billing. The billing process will be emphasized, including insurance fundamentals. The legal and regulatory requirements of the medical practice will be presented.
