Figurative Oil Painting – Part 2: Developing Personal Voice Through the Figure
Building on the techniques from Part 1, this course explores expanded palette mixing, expressive color, and personal mark-making. Students will tackle more complex compositions, including the portrait, human figure, and landscape, while continuing to work from observation and photo references. The class will deepen its focus on structure through value and color relationships, work in color masses, and incorporate palette knife painting to enhance form and surface. Emphasis is placed on developing an expressive and individual approach within classical foundations. The course is designed for beginner and intermediate level students. A supply list will be sent to the students’ college email address before the start of the course. (15 hours, 6 meetings)
