Drawing Techniques – Part 1: Foundations of Drawing
This introductory course is designed to build essential drawing skills through close observation and hands-on practice. Students will learn to perceive and translate the world around them using lines, shapes, value, texture, and basic perspective. Through focused exercises in still life, interior, landscape, and portrait drawing, participants will develop confidence in mark-making and a solid understanding of light, shadow, and spatial depth. Each class includes instructor demonstrations, structured guidance, and individualized feedback—ideal for those new to drawing or looking to strengthen their foundations. This course is for beginners. Students are responsible for buying all course supplies for the first day of class. A supply list will be sent to the students’ college email address before the start of the course. (6 meetings, 12 hours)
